Creator Spotlight: LadyLime

Welcome to our Creator spotlight!

Continuing our series of Space Engineers Creator Spotlights with LadyLime.

Though I’ve had Space Engineers since around 2013 and have been playing it since 2018, I’ve been building ships for 4.5 years, but only started posting them 2 years ago. Since then, I’ve been pushing myself to improve as a builder and foster strong connections within the community.
I began by building ships for my friend Midori’s workshop. After 2.5 years, I decided to start my own company and aimed to outdo myself with each build, always keeping the survival element in mind. My goal is to make my ships easily buildable in survival mode while remaining useful for both gameplay and roleplaying, enhancing immersion in your own solar system. My design philosophy, especially visible in my earlier ships, was heavily inspired by my work for Midori. I’m very pleased with the evolution of that style in my most recent builds. I still have a lot to do on my 2nd Generation of ships and many projects to finish, including an unannounced capital ship I’ve been working on for 4.5 years. More than anything, I’m thrilled that so many people are downloading and using my vehicles in their worlds and servers!

I’ve also incorporated feedback from peers and subscribers into the different iterations of my ships, adjusting effectiveness based on what people found useful. My building style has evolved to be more simplified to prevent overheating my graphics card, making my ships easy to render and accessible to people with weaker PCs. Although I’ve upgraded my hardware since, I’ll continue building in a way that keeps my submissions accessible to everyone.

I love collaborating with other creators and wish I could do more. The Diamondback, for instance, was built off Stratus’ Monitor during a 1v1 creator bash to create a Monitor Mk3 for fun. Stratus helped me refine a style for my combat ships, which I’ve integrated into a cohesive 2nd generation. I’d love to do that kind of thing again! User satisfaction is my top priority, and I focus on my interiors, typically starting construction there to ensure everything fits and flows well.

Throughout these four and a half years of building and two years of uploading, I’ve met many wonderful people in the community and have nothing but praise for my fellow creators. A good builder has great ideas, but a great builder has the skills and knowledge to construct those ideas in a way others can enjoy. Even if someone’s just starting out and has flaws in their designs, it doesn’t make them bad or unskilled—it takes time to improve! Remember to be humble, and know that if you’re just starting, veteran builders can see your passion and bright ideas. Keep trying! You don’t need all the DLCs or years of experience; as long as you’re having fun, it’ll click!”

LIM Constellation Orion | Heavy Freighter

A relic of Lagrange’s past, the Constellation Orion was and still is a long-range cargo hauler of basic design. A habitation and command module at the front, an engine housing in the rear, and rows of cargo crates in between.

Constructed originally in 2032, these hardened ships are minimally-turreted to deal with basic pirate threats and provide a healthy baseline for human habitation in early space expansion.

LIM Voyager-Class | Survival Ready Expedition Ship

The Voyager is a vessel of exploration; charting asteroid belts, investigating anomalies in deep space, and performing planetary landings for samples.

Built to be the premier science vessel in the Lagrange fleet, this vehicle soars to the apex of educational curiosities with its modern bridge and cutting-edge science labs.

LIM Avidan II Light Runabout

The Avidan family of shuttles was the series that kicked off Lagrange’s business in starfaring construction, and it seems only fitting to include them in the sweeping reconstitution of older ships to a more modern standard.

With that said, the Avidan II is an emotional inclusion to the second generation of ships; this runabout was rebuilt from the ground up to fulfill the modern needs of the average space engineer.

LIM Python | Expedition Ship

The Python-Class Expedition Ship is a civilianized Anaconda Flight II with some conveniences stripped away, like the repair projector, but many more added like a landing pad for a runabout/shuttle or fighter to compliment the modest onboard firepower or to venture into chasms of space that may be too large or treacherous for a vessel of its size to venture.

Intended for a crew of four industrialists, the Python comes equipped with four beds, a small cafeteria, and a fore-structured bridge able to look out into the expanse in search for anomalies or systems to explore.

LIM Carthage | Escort Frigate

The Carthage from Lagrange Interplanetary Motorworks is geared towards being an entry-level starship for smaller factions or a flagship for large militias, and being officially used in militaries around Human space as a patrol frigate for areas of high traffic with being able to field a multitude of shuttles and fighters from its hangar and fend off any threats from non-dedicated warships without the need for backup.

In doing this it has multiple bathrooms, 6 crew beds and 1 captain’s quarters, a large shuttle bay capable of holding 2 Avidans or an array of space and atmospheric fighters – though only one Avidan can be linked to the cargo grid at one time.
